Omeluum is one of the characters in Baldur’s Gate 3 that you will meet while progressing through Act One in Underdark. Being a friendly Mindflayer trader, he will offer you to remove the tadpole aka larva in your brain. Joining the list of many characters including Aunt Ethel, Nettie, Volo, and more, trusting him can be a bit suspicious. Since every choice can lead to a certain consequence, you might want to cross-check your decision.
So, should you trust Omeluum and let him help you in BG3? Regardless of the outcomes, we recommend Save Scumming to explore both the choices. Check out our guide to find out whether you should drink the Omeluum Potion or not.

Should You Drink Omeluum’s Potion in Baldur’s Gate 3?
There are no direct and lasting consequences for drinking Omeluum’s Potion in BG3. Sadly, you won’t be cured of the parasite in your brain whether you choose to drink the Potion or not. If you drink the Potion, you unlock the Survival Instinct class action. This skill allows you to save an ally from falling unconscious. For the characters reaching 0 hit points, this action allows them to regain 3d4 hit points.
However, Omeluum doesn’t have any ill intentions and genuinely wants to help you out. So, you can convince him to give you a Ring of Mind-Shielding for the caused trouble. But you must drink Omeluum’s potion to get this Ring.
Here are the following dialogue options you must choose in order to get the ring:
- You were supposed to make it weaker, not stronger!
- So I went through all this and the tadpole’s still lodged in my brain?
- Either give me the ring, or I’ll run you through. [Intimidation]
- DC20 Charisma Check
If you roll the dice successfully, Blurg will suggest Omeluum to not cause any trouble and give you the Ring. You will gain approval from Shadowheart if you get the Ring. But aside from the checks, you can also buy or Pickpocket this ring from Omeluum. That said, this rare Ring prevents the effects of the Tadpole or Illithid powers. In addition, you also have an advantage on Saving throws against being Charmed for equipping this ring.
Ultimately, it all depends on your desired playthrough. If you are going for a Tadpole free run without using powers, we suggest not taking the Potion. But if you want to become a Mind-flayer, we recommend taking the Potion.
