To collect the gasses players will have to approach the vents and press E on their keyboard or the A button on their Xbox controller in Starfield. This will help you gather any gaseous resources you will come across on different planets during the survey. Players can look around for these vents the same way they look for mining resources by using the Hand Scanner. To use the scanner players will have to press the F key on the keyboard or the LB button on the Xbox Controller. With it, you can scan around for vents for gasses like Helium, Argon, Carbonic acid, etc. in the game. You will have to close your scanner for the harvest option to show up in the game.

However, players will have to be careful while approaching these vents and collecting different gasses in Starfield. Many gasses you will come around on the planets would be harmful toxins. These will in turn cause cough and lung damage to your character. The damage will deplete your oxygen chipping your health away. However, players can easily avoid this by not spending too much time near the vents. Another important thing to mention is that water can be harvested the same way. Players won’t be able to use their mining cutter when they come across H20. Instead, approach the resource and you will get the option to harvest it.

Additionally, you can also place extractors in your outpost to collect and harvest different gasses in Starfield.
