Wondering whether or not you can change your character’s race in BG3? Before entering the forgotten realms and heading out on your DnD adventures, Baldur’s Gate 3 allows players to personalize their character with different races. There are 11 different options available to choose from in the game. And considering the plethora of appearances and abilities they provide, it might take you countless hours to find the right one. As the campaign progresses, you might find it not working with the character build you want. Or with respect to the overall appearance of your character. So if you are looking to do the same and change your appearance and abilities, here is a guide you should check out if there is a way to edit it in the game.
How to Change Your Race in BG3?
Unfortunately, there is no way available for players to change their character races and appearance in BG3. Once you are done through the character creation and enter the world of Forgotten Realms, you are restricted by the race you choose at the beginning. With the races being permanent, even respec won’t do you any good. In Baldur’s Gate 3, each race will affect the dialogue options available for NPCs throughout the campaign. This makes selecting the right race for you at the start of character creation even more crucial in the game.
According to this Steam Community Thread, Larian Studios has specified that they are working on a way to change the character appearance which might include race in BG3. Although there are no specific dates available for the updates. Players will have to wait around and keep track of all the upcoming patches.
Having said that, players with Digital Deluxe Edition of BG3 can change every aspect of their appearance like race, etc. with the Mask Of Shapeshifter. The headgear is only available for players with the premium edition of the game at their disposal. So unfortunately for players without it, there is no way to change their character races. With the Mask Of Shapeshifter, players will be able to disguise themselves and change their appearance till a long rest. After which the appearance along with the race would reset back to its original form in Baldur’s Gate 3. Players will find the mask in the Traveller’s Chest located in the Emerald Grove Campsite.
