How to Get the Dreambreaker Rod in Fisch
Unlocking the Dreambreaker is a late-game challenge requiring both progression and currency. Here are the steps you need to follow:
Head to the Cultist Lair. It can be accessed via Terrapin Island, however, you need to first complete the Sea Traveler’s quest where he asks you to give him a Sea Turtle. After catching it from the surrounding ocean of the Terrapin Island, give it to the NPC, obtain the Sea Traveler Note and gain access to the Cultist Lair via the Terrapin Hideaway.
During Foggy Nights, you will see a Lever with a green highlight and when you interact with it, you will get permanent access to the Cultist Lair for future visits.
- Then, talk to The Restless One NPC there and complete the questline.
- Gather special items during side tasks – this includes collecting Lucid Enchant Relic, Lucid Speed Core, and more.
- Pay the required cost (10,000,000 C$) and be at least level 500. Once the quests are complete and your level requirement is met, the final step is purchasing the rod.

Passives, Behavior, and Day/Night Mechanics
The rod provides different effects depending on whether it’s day or night.
During the day, you get -50% fish size and 25% chance for the Distraught mutation (16.3x value) and during the night you get +50% fish size and 35% chance for the same mutation. The rod increases progress speed by +15% but at night, it will also give a -15% Forced Progress speed so if you’re trying to catch a progress-locked fish, its progress speed will further reduce.
This mutation boosts fish value and turns ordinary catches into profitable ones. Because the Dreambreaker boosts the chance of the Distraught mutation, especially at night, it becomes a decent rod for farming large rewards.
Another thing to keep in mind is that it inverts the controls of the fishing minigame. The best enchantments to go with this rod are Sea Overlord (+40% Fish size), Invincible (allows Fishing in Roslit Volcano and Brine Pool locations), Quality, Momentum and anything else that provides overall stat upgrades.
The Dreambreaker is not a beginner’s rod since it already requires level 500 in Fisch. Plus, it’s a high-level challenge designed for players who want something more complex than simple stat upgrades. In the right hands, it can prove to be quite versatile.
