Valheim: How To Open Menus, Map, Chat, Console (PC Controls)
Let’s take a look at how to open the console, inventory, build menu, crafting menu, chat and map in Valheim using the default controls.
How to Open Console
You need to press F5 on your keyboard to bring up the console. This is where you can enable cheats and use console commands. Type in devcommands (and not imacheater) to start using cheat codes. Make sure to enable console commands by reading this article here.
How to Open Inventory
Players can open the inventory simply by pressing TAB on the keyboard.
How to Open Map
Press the M button on your keyboard to open Map in Valheim. Here’s how to mark locations on the map as well.
How to Open Chat
You can open the chat menu by pressing the Enter key and start typing to chat with other players. The Chat is where you can use Emotes as well. Many players are confusing this with the console which is not where you can chat with other players.
How to Open Build Menu
To be able to use a Build Menu, you need to craft a Hammer first and equip it. After that, right click on the mouse with the Hammer at hand to open up the Build Menu.
How to Open Crafting Menu
When you open the inventory using TAB, you will see a basic Crafting Menu on the right side of the screen. These are the items that you can craft without a Workbench. For those items that require a Workbench to craft, you have to build one first and interact with it to craft those tools, weapons etc.
