Just like Pokeballs, there are different types of Pal Spheres that you can use to catch Pals in Palworld, and you can unlock them when you keep leveling up in the game. As you keep going higher, the number of crafting materials keeps increasing, although you may also find them while exploring the open world on the ground, via chests or Syndicate enemies. But for crafting purposes, here are the materials you will need for all higher-tier Pal Spheres.
How many Pal Spheres are there in Palworld?
There are 6 types of Pal Spheres in the early access version of the game: Pal Sphere, Mega Sphere, Giga Sphere, Hyper Sphere, Ultra Sphere, and Legendary Sphere.
Crafting Recipes of All Pal Spheres
Basic Pal Sphere
- Unlocked at level: 2
- You need: Primitive Workbench
- Crafting Materials:
- Paldium Fragment x1
- Wood x5
- Stone x5
This is the basic Pal Sphere that will come in handy during the starting areas you explore to catch the early game Pals.
Mega Sphere
- Unlocked at level: 14
- You need: Sphere Workbench
- Crafting Materials:
- Paldium Fragment x2
- Ingot x1
- Wood x7
- Stone x7
The Mega Sphere has a higher capture rate and it lets you catch a wider range of Pals.
Giga Sphere
- Unlocked at level: 20
- You need: Sphere Workbench
- Crafting Materials:
- Paldium Fragment x3
- Ingot x3
- Wood x10
- Stone x10
If you’re planning on catching stronger Pals, then you need the Giga Sphere for better results. As per the description, it can capture “moderately powerful Pals” in the game. Basically, it gets a better accuracy and probability rate of capturing but you will have to grind till level 20 for it.
Hyper Sphere
- Unlocked at level: 27
- You need: Sphere Assembly Line
- Crafting Materials:
- Paldium Fragment x5
- Ingot x5
- Wood x12
- Cement x2
Yep, you guessed it, the Hyper Sphere allows you to catch even more powerful Pals and has enhanced capabilities. So if you are trying to catch the fastest mounts in the game for ground and aerial movement, this sphere will be very useful.

Ultra Sphere
- Unlocked at level: 35
- You need: Sphere Assembly Line II
- Crafting Materials:
- Paldium Fragment x7
- Refined Ingot x8
- Carbon Fiber x3

Legendary Sphere
- Unlocked at level: 44
- You need: Sphere Assembly Line II
- Crafting Materials:
- Paldium Fragment x10
- Pal Metal Ingot x10
- Carbon Fiber x5
- Cement x5
The best of the lot as of now, the Legendary Sphere will make you a formidable force in the world of Pal-capturing.
How to Change Spheres in Palworld
There are two ways to switch between different spheres.
Switch Spheres in Combat
Use the button you would to aim and throw a Sphere (Q by default on the keyboard) and then use the scroll of the mouse to switch between them easily. The changes will be shown visually through color and you will see its name change at the bottom right section as well.
If you’re not holding a Sphere in your hand right now, you can press the 2 key (default) on the keyboard to swap Spheres in Palworld.
Swap Spheres via Game Settings
Go the the game’s Options > Controls > Find the option to Change Sphere and bind a key that you prefer for it.
How to Build the Sphere Workbench
Here are the quick steps to follow to construct a Sphere Workbench.
- Get 3 Flame Organs, 20 Wood, and 50 Stones
- Build a Primitive Furnace (Technology level 10)
- Mine Ores
- Craft Ingots (You need 2 Ores for this)
- Craft Nail (You need 1 Ingot for this)
- Build a Sphere Workbench with 10 Paldium Fragments, 30 Wood and 10 Nails
