In Dragon’s Dogma 2, your Pawns are going to come in handy a lot more times than you think. While they can use their skills and knowledge to aid you, they can also use Specializations to offer you something extra. A Pawn can learn Specializations and do things on their own without you having to command them. Their actions are meant only to help you and not harm you, so don’t worry about that.
For example, a Pawn with Forager Specialization marks the location of enhancement materials on the map automatically. Similar to this, there are plenty more passive traits that can be acquired. In this guide, we will explain how to change the Specializations of your Pawn in Dragon’s Dogma 2.
Here’s How to Change DD2 Pawn Specializations
Specializations can be given to your Pawns by unlocking Tomes. The Specialization Tomes are given to you by NPCs once you have increased your affinity with them. This can be done by either completing side quests or giving them certain gifts. For instance, if you gift Kough (NPC) a bunch of flowers then she will give you a Woodland Wordsmith Tome.
Note: The Chirurgeon’s Tome is one of the earliest Specialization Tome that you can get in Dragon’s Dogma 2. It is unlocked after completing the Medicament Predicament side quest. You will receive it from Flora or her father after the quest.
After unlocking the Tome, it will directly be stored in your Inventory and you can use it from there. Once you have used it, your nearby Pawn will learn the Woodland Wordsmith Specialization. So whenever the Pawn with this Specialization is near, you will be able to understand the Elvish Language. One more thing, the Tomes are only a one-time use resource. So if you want to change the Pawn Specialization in Dragon’s Dogma 2 again then you will have to find another Tome.
Also, it should be noted that only your Main Pawn’s Specialization can be changed. Other Pawns that you have hired from different players can’t be customized. Anyways, if you are looking to make your Pawns even more effective then choosing the Best Vocations is also needed. Make sure to check out our guide on it.
