While a seemingly fair bargain to remove the parasite, should you give Auntie Ethel your eye in Baldur’s Gate 3? Being one of the most tricky decisions early on, Auntie Ethel will ask you for a trade for curing the Mindflayer parasite stuck in your head. The price here is allowing Ethel to pluck out your eye and kiss it for luck. As you keep on talking to this sweet old lady, she will reveal herself as a Hag with killer looks. But can she remove the Tadpole or parasite? And what happens if you let Ethel take your eye? Don’t worry, check out our guide to find out if you should give Auntie Ethel an eye in BG3.
Should You Give Auntie Ethel an Eye in Baldur’s Gate 3?
No, you shouldn’t give your eye to Auntie Ethel in BG3 or allow her to kiss your eye. That’s because she won’t keep her end of the bargain by extracting the Mindflayer parasite in your head. Instead, you receive a “Paid the Price” condition for the rest of the game that puts you at a disadvantage on all the Perception checks. This condition also puts you at a disadvantage when fighting the Hags. If you want to save Mayrina, you will be pitted against Auntie Ethel aka the Old Hag. And due to your condition, you will be at a disadvantage fighting the evil Hag making it a challenging fight.
On the brighter side, you have a bonus +1 on all the Intimidation checks. But some of your party members like Lae’zel will disapprove of your decision. Since the downsides of this bargain weigh more than the pros, we recommend choosing to not give Auntie Ethel an eye in BG3. Unless you are ready to face the Hag at a disadvantage, you can let Ethel take your eye.
So, we leave the rest of the decision up to you.
