When it comes to games that have crossplay, it is no surprise that PC players have an advantage over their console counterparts. This is simply due to the fact that aiming with the mouse is far better than with a controller. So in order to compensate for that games often add aim assist, which also applies to The Finals. But if you are wondering just how good it is or if you can disable it then here are the answers you are looking for.
Does The Finals have Aim Assist?
Yes, there is aim assist in The Finals, when you are using a controller. In fact, it is recommended you set it as on for the best experience. I suggest you check our controller settings for more on it. However, if you are not sure where to find it, then here is how you can enable or disable it:
- Open the game’s settings.
- Go to the Controller tab.
- Scroll down you will get the Aim Assist section, here the first option will be Aim Assist.
- You can change it to On or Off.
How Does Aim Assist Work in The Finals
Aim Assist typically works by snapping to your target, when you are aiming in their general direction. This is because controller players don’t exactly have the advantage of a mouse for aiming very precisely. Note, that the important thing here is when compared to a mouse. Remember that you still have to be aiming at them, else it would be an aimbot.
However, the issue with the aim assist in The Finals is it auto-snaps, to the target a bit too much. There are several instances where you can see this. Here, are two great examples by Reddit users u/thwoc and u/Cumli. User u/thwoc has given an interesting breakdown of aim assist snapping when you quickly turn 90 degree or 180 degree to a side. As for the video by user u/Cumli. They say that they didn’t even see the enemy but it snapped it automatically for them.
Is Aim Assist in The Finals Broken?
Based on the above videos, it is safe to say that Aim Assist is definitely a bit overpowered if not broken. However, the developers should be able to fix it with an update. Or maybe introduce separate matchmaking based on whether you play on KBM or a Controller or with aim assist enabled or disabled.
That’s all for how the aim assist works in this game. If you need more help on other such topics then don’t forget to check out our The Finals section!
