Now, the devs are aware of this problem. Here’s what Housemarque has shared on their Twitter account:
Enter the Pause menu and choose “Restart your run”. Select the plain Selene suit in your spaceship. Your run will be aborted, but any permanent progress and weapon upgrade progress is kept.
When does this occur usually for everyone? Basically, whenever you complete watching a cutscene, you may come across this door not opening bug in Returnal. You won’t be able to interact with doors nor can you pick up items in the world. There is no specific cutscene where this issue occurs, it has happened multiple times on different occasions.
Apart from the ones mentioned above, there is no workaround or solution available for the Returnal door not opening bug which is unfortunate. Players are investing hours into the gameplay which gets reset due to the restart that you have to do. Moreover, there is no option save and exit the game which adds to the pressure.
