The battle between Helldivers and Automatons has started to pick up heat as they have surrounded a secret research station. As such during the Defense Campaign, one of the missions you get in Helldivers 2 is to rescue the science team. Escort missions are always a pain to deal with in most games. However here in particular you are in for a rough time. So here are the objectives and what you need to do to help with the researcher’s extraction.
How to Rescue Science Team in Helldivers 2
This mission is not exactly easy so it isn’t recommended for Solo play. But here are the basics of what you need to do:
- Find and make your way to the shelters that have yellow lights. They should have a control panel outside.
- Interact with the big button to open the door. The lights turn green as an indication.
- Each such shelter releases 3 scientists at a time. You have to escort them to the Evacuation Shuttle so that they don’t get killed.
- You basically have to repeat these above two steps until all 40 or the required number of scientists are taken to the Evacuation Shuttle. There is another catch that you need to do it within the given time. Try defending the civilians as the Automatons will be targeting them.
- Once enough members are rescued the Extraction becomes available.
- Go and activate the Extraction Terminal.
- Now all that is left is for you to stay back and defend the Extraction zone until the Shuttle arrives.
- Clear the landing zone and return to the ship before the time runs out.
Do remember that this mission is not easy by any means even if you play with your squad. So you should be prepared to retry it several times. It is best if you play with your friends for better coordination rather than join a public game with randoms. Take the strongest weapons and Strategems you have on you for example SG-225 is one of the best shotguns for early-game.
Also try going for Strategems better suited for defensive missions, some of these include:
- Orbital EMS Strike
- Orbital Smoke Strike
- Autocannon
