    MonkaW on Twitch

The MonkaW emote is used in Twitch chat when a streamer is in a tense moment or a challenging situation like a boss fight or a horror game. To use the MonkaW emote, you must have the FrankerFaceZ Twitch extension or the BTTV (Better Twitch TV) extension. Alternatively, this meme is also spammed ironically when a streamer is ranting or frustrated. It is used interchangeably with MonkaS, the original version of this emote.

What is MonkaW & What’s the Origin of this Emote?

MonkaW is an emote from Pepe the Frog family, which is one of the most popular emote families on Twitch chat. The emote is an image of Pepe looking absolutely terrified. The variations of Pepe the Frog have helped countless viewers to express a breadth of emotions on the platform. The MonkaW emote is a zoomed-in version of MonkaS. This emote first appeared in 2011 on 4Chan. But later, it was uploaded on the BTTV extension in 2016. The original MonkaS was uploaded by a Twitch user called MonkaSenpai. Apart from this, there are other versions like the MonkaMega, MonkaGIGA, MonkaThink, and more.

Going back to the origin of all the variations, Pepe the Frog is a popular character from the comic “Boy’s Club”. In this comic by Matt Furie, Pepe is a chill frog who likes to hang out with his friends. He has some iconic lines like “Feels Good Man”, which was picked up by Twitch users to react to whatever was happening in the stream. Over time, variations like MonkaS were released, which are still used by players today.

We hope that answers your question as to what MonkaW emote is on Twitch chat. While you’re here, make sure you check out what other terms like KEKW and Copium mean on Twitch.
