More creatures that drop Chitin can be found in different maps of the ASA. But for beginners hunting and taming Dung Beetle is the best option. They are not heavy, so you can carry them and they will give you something that you’ll find very useful in future. Taming and hunting Achatina is also easier in the early game, as they are found in multiple areas of the southern part of The Island. Most of which are near the best base locations.
