Dead Rails Challenges Guide

Published Date :

Since Bonds are tough to obtain, the developers have added yet another way to obtain them and that is through Challenges in Dead Rails. While you’re in the lobby, you will be able to see the Challenge board and when you complete challenges, you get Sheriff Star points. There may be more added in the future, but here’s a list of currently available challenges in the game.

Challenges in Dead Rails and How to Complete Them

  • Tame a Unicorn: While spotting a Unicorn is luck-based, here’s a guide that explains how to tame it when you see it in the wild.
    • Reward: 5 Bonds and 1 Star Point
  • Escape: Complete the entire run and survive the ambush at 80,000m by lowering the bridge.
    • Reward: 5 Bonds and 1 Star Point
  • Bounty Hunter: Kill 5 Outlaws during one game and give their bodies for a bounty at a Sheriff’s Office.
    • Reward: 5 Bonds and 1 Star Point
  • New Sheriff in Town: Kill 50 Outlaws in one game. Get a rifle as soon as possible and make it a priority to take down every group of Outlaws you see along the way. They need not be turned in for a bounty in this case. Keep an eye out for the Outlaw town to farm enemies for this challenge.
    • Reward: 15 Bonds and 3 Star Points
  • Werewolf Hunter: Kill 50 Werewolves in one game. These enemies are tougher than human opponents, and faster too, so make sure you have multiple weapons ready. This includes the Holy Water, Crucifix and your guns. Use a tamed horse to get away if danger comes too close and head to the Castle if you want to see more Werewolves.
    • Reward: 15 Bonds and 3 Star Points
  • Zombie Hunter: Kill 200 Zombies in one game. Towns are bound to have a lot of zombies, so go ahead and clear them to complete this challenge, as well as collect valuable loot. If it’s a New Moon night, you will see a lot more zombies to kill.
    • Reward: 15 Bonds and 3 Star Points
  • Unkillable: Complete the game without dying, and this includes your teammates. If you’re playing solo and have a good grip on the game’s mechanics, this should be easy to do. However, if you’re playing with friends, communicate to help each other out. Playing with random players will make this challenge difficult to obtain.
    • Reward: 30 Bonds and 9 Star Points
snake oil
  • Pacifist: Complete the game without killing an enemy. The Safezone turrets don’t count in this case, so you can use it to protect yourself and obtain money and fuel from the bodies. Money is crucial because you can take damage and need Snake Oil/Bandages to survive. Make sure to upgrade your train for better defense and buy armor for yourself. Cover the train’s access areas well to protect yourself from the climbers. It appears that running over enemies with the train doesn’t count as killing an enemy for this challenge, and killing a horse or a unicorn ends up ending the challenge.
    • Reward: 30 Bonds and 9 Star Points
cowboy class
  • Pony Express: Complete the game without any player using the Train. This is a unique one because you or your fellow players must avoid driving the train at any cost. Starting the run with the Cowboy class will come in handy because you can navigate the map with a tamed horse, however, make sure it doesn’t get killed in a battle. Also, keep a Lightning Rod with you to protect yourself from lightning strikes. You can choose to be a High Roller for this as well, but it comes with a 10x more chance to be hit by a lightning bolt.
    • Reward: 30 Bonds and 9 Star Points
