How to Deal with Werewolf in Dead Rails

Published Date :

Taking down zombies and outlaws with a rifle is doable but if you’ve come face to face with a ferocious Werewolf in Dead Rails for the first time, you need to know what exactly to do. It’s the strongest enemy in the game right now (the Nikola Tesla boss is a werewolf as well) and they are huge creatures who are fast too. Here’s how to deal with this enemy type.

How to Fight a Werewolf in Dead Rails

To defeat a Werewolf, you need a Rifle or a Shotgun. Both can be purchased at the Gunsmith for $75 or $50 respectively. Make sure to buy ammo as well. When you see a Werewolf approaching, use your gun to deal damage because melee weapons will not be useful in this case.

The enemy has high HP and will easily kill your character, so make sure to get headshots from a distance. You will have to keep shooting at least 6 times to defeat it.

When do Werewolves spawn?

Werewolves can spawn during a Clear Full moon night event (indicated by a big moon with no visible clouds) so when you start hearing some howling, it’s best to stay alert and ready with weapons. In case you are waiting at a Fort for the night, keep an eye out for them because they can infiltrate the interior. The turrets will take them out but some can get past and reach you.

If you’re planning to raid the Castle for valuable loot, you will face multiple Werewolves there as well. It can also appear as a pack with wolves nearby, so if you’re playing solo, you may need items that cause AoE damage like the Molotov and Holy Water.

In case you’re stuck in a train for the night, place some Newspapers to block the driver’s seat and use other defensive items like Barbed Wire, Sheet Metal and Crucifix to deter them from boarding the train. The Sheet Metal can be welded in a way that the player has to strafe to get to the seat, which enemies cannot do.
