Where to Find Once Human Copper Ore
Copper Ore appears as grey rocks with shiny golden chunks all over them and due to its color, it’s hard to miss it while exploring. Thankfully, it’s available in abundance all over the map unlike Tin Ore which requires you to visit specific locations. Since you might keep needing Copper Ore, you can move your territory to a spot where multiple deposits spawn.
Some common locations to find and farm Copper Ore in Once Human are outside Settlements along roads, hillsides, and areas away from buildings.
- Once you find a deposit, approach it and you will see a prompt confirming that the deposit is indeed “Copper Ore.”
- Press “F” to mine the ore. Your character will automatically equip a pickaxe and start gathering.
Which Pickaxe do you need to mine Copper Ore?
You don’t need a specific tool initially—any pickaxe will do. Upgrading to a stronger pickaxe later can help you mine Copper Ore faster.

With Copper Ore obtained, head to your Furnace which can be built if you’ve unlocked Smelting Essentials from Infrastructure. You need 20x Copper Ore and 30x Gravel to craft a Furnace.
When you’ve unlocked the blueprint, go to build mode and head to Facilities > Production Processing. Place the Furnace down wherever you prefer and interact with it to create Copper Ingots. If you’re short of Charcoal, you can get wood from trees and smelt it at the Furnace to convert it into Charcoal.
