Fishing is an integral part of ACNH and if that is your favorite part of the game, the Fishing Tourney will give you even more reason to be excited. In case you didn’t know, the Fishing Tourney is a special event where you have to catch as many fish as possible within a time limit. It is a recurring event hosted by C.J. and there will be one in July and October in both the hemispheres. It is on the second Saturday which is July 11, 2020. Animal Crossing New Horizons Fishing Tourney July
This event will be held from 9 am to 6 pm as per your time. Let’s take a look at how the Fishing Tourney works. You will find C.J. near the main Plaza area next to a tent. To initiate the event, you have to talk to him and pay him some Bells (500 Bells to be exact). As he will tell you, the rules are simple. Catch as many fish as you can in 3 minutes. It’s just like the Bug Off event so if you have participated in that, or if you have done the April Fishing Tourney, you know how this goes. Note that your Residential Services building has to be upgraded for you to participate.
Every fish that you catch will earn you some points. Upon getting enough points, you can exchange those for some ‘fish swag’. Whatever fish you catch during this period will be sent to the cooler in the tent automatically and later you can sell it to C.J. for a good price. You can also enter as many times as you want during the timings mentioned above. Make sure to have fish bait ready (with manila clams) beforehand because it will help you get more fish during this time. And it goes without saying that you will need a fishing rod. To craft a fishing rod, you need one flimsy fishing rod and one iron nugget.
What are the prizes?
You get one point for one fish but if you catch more than 3 before time runs out, you will get 2 more points. You will get extra points if you approach this Animal Crossing New Horizons fishing tourney with friends and catch more than 5 fish together. If you join with friends, you won’t need to pay 500 Bells to re-enter the event as well.
