If you are trying to complete the merging process of your accounts after the launch of Overwatch 2, you are here because you are seeing an account merge queue. “Your accounts are being prepared for migration. You are currently ‘X’ in the migration queue” is the message you may be seeing. What does this mean and how long will it last? Here’s what you need to know.
How Long to Wait for Overwatch 2 Account Merge in Queue?
Despite being in the account merge for 10+ hours, players are still seeing themselves in a long queue. After a while, the number of players in the queue change resets and drastically increases as well, which can be frustrating. At the moment, there is no fixed duration for the account merge queue but for most, it seems to be anything from 24 hours to 3 days.
This is due to the fact that the game is newly launched, bringing in players old and new. Moreover, the server issues include problems with connection, logging in etc. When more and more people are able to merge their accounts, the wait times will get shorter and then you will be able to carry over your progress and items from OW 1.
Why should you Merge Accounts?
Waiting in a long queue can be frustrating but don’t put off the process of merging your accounts due to it. Eventually, as the huge hype for the game slows down a bit, there may be no queueing required for merging accounts.
If you have been a veteran player of OW1 and wish to transfer your progress, character skins, and other in-game elements like Legacy Credits, merging your accounts with Battle.net is mandatory. Without it, you may have to start off OW 2 as if you were a new player. After merging successfully, you can change platforms but won’t lose your progress in OW 2 due to it.
Rest assured that these issues have been identified by Blizzard and they are working to get them resolved as well. Many players who have already merged accounts are seeing missing heroes, missing skins and items/cosmetics. It has been addressed in this update where the developers confirm that they are not deleted or wiped. It is an issue related to servers or account merge – the devs will be patching out these problems soon.
