One of the most impactful additions to Cyberpunk 2077 in the 2.0 update is the ability to upgrade your iconic weapons. Due to their low damage output, these are unique weapons tied to certain quests or characters, previously useless in the late game. However, upgrading isn’t as simple as leveling up the weapon’s stats. Only certain iconic weapons can even be upgraded in the first place. We’ll talk about how to upgrade iconic weapons in Cyberpunk 2077.
Can You Upgrade an Iconic Weapon in Cyberpunk 2077 2.0?
Upgrading your iconic weapons is important in maximizing your character’s power in Cyberpunk 2077. Iconic weapons are some of the best guns in the game, and upgrading them allows you to enhance their stats and make them shine.
To upgrade an iconic weapon, you will need crafting components. Crafting components come in tiers from 1-5, matching the tier of weapons and upgrades. Higher-tier components are needed for higher-tier upgrades.
The process is:
- Head over to the crafting menu and the upgrades section.
- All iconic weapons you own will be listed here. Select the iconic weapon you want to upgrade.
- You can then spend crafting components to upgrade the weapon. The tier of components required depends on the weapon tier and upgrade level. A tier 4 or 5 component is often needed, even for lower-tier weapons. Upgrading a tier 5 weapon to the highest level requires up to 200 tier 5 components, so save them.
The best way to get components is by disassembling unwanted weapons for their component tier. Be sure to pick up and disassemble all looted weapons. This is faster than searching, but yields mostly lower tiers.
You can also find components through looting, but higher tiers are rarer. Farming is necessary to get the large amounts of tier 5 components required for max upgrade.
