Every time you successfully complete and win in a Story mission, you will be rewarded with certain items from the Gear and Palettes section, as soon as you finish the final round.
Along with that, every time you level up in the game, you will be given an item as a reward for leveling up. You can also collect Mortal Kombat 1 Dragon Krystals, which are the form of currency in the game. This can be used to purchase your desired set of pieces from all the amenities available in cosmetics.
Keep in mind, if you want to unlock specific Gear or Palettes, for a certain character, using that character will help you get them. The more you play with that character, the more items you can unlock belonging to that character.
