Baldur’s Gate 3: Should You Trust Wizard Elminster In BG3?

Dealing with Wizards is always risky in Baldur’s Gate 3. Our guide will help you understand Elminister Aumar’s intentions and whether you can trust him or not.

Interacting with characters while exploring different areas is one of the core aspects of Baldur’s Gate 3. Similarly, during your travels, you will encounter a ‘Weary Traveler’ who is known as Elminster Aumar. He is considered to be one of the most respected Wizards in the realm of Faerun. Additionally, he is appointed by Mystra to deliver a message to one of the members of your party.

However, the factor of trust comes into play when the Wizard asks if he could speak to your companion in private. Since he is indirectly connected to the goddess of magic, Mysra, making the right decision becomes increasingly important. To help you with this, here is everything you will have to consider before you start believing anything this mighty Wizard says.

Where to Find Wizard Elminster Aumar in Baldur’s Gate 3

Elminster Aumar can be found near the entrance of the Shadow Cursed Lands in Act 2. Additionally, if you don’t find him here, he will also appear in front of the Moonrise Towers, on the Stone Bridge.

Once you encounter this Wizard, he will either want to speak to Gale in private or will ask you about the directions to your Camp, if Gale hasn’t accompanied you. Whatever the request might be, you can be assured that Elminster doesn’t have any bad intentions in mind and you can trust him.

We say this with confidence because, after the conversation with the Wizard, Gale will tell you that he can help him cure his curse. Once you accept Elminster Aumar’s offer, you will have to accompany Gale to complete The Wizard of Waterdeep quest.

As you try to complete the objectives of this questline, you will be able to unlock a hidden area located in the Shadow Cursed Lands. However, if you choose to reject this offer, you won’t be able to rid Gale of his curse and also won’t get access to the secret place in the Shadow Cursed Lands, as you will only be able to explore this area if you are following the companion quest.
