Since J.K Rowling has been under fire for her statements about the trans community, the release of Hogwarts Legacy has been pretty controversial. Ever since its game development, several people have branded anyone involved as being anti-trans. Nevertheless, Hogwarts Legacy has featured its first transgender character named Sirona Ryan. Quite surprisingly, she is the first trans character of the entire Wizarding World. But does this character has a significant role? And what does she bring to the franchise? Who is Sirona Ryan in Hogwarts Legacy?
Sirona Ryan is a witch and the proprietress of the Three Broomsticks Inn located in the Hogsmeade region in Hogwarts Legacy. She had attended Hogwarts school and shared a lifelong friendship with Professor Mirabel Garlick. Sirona is quite protective of her patrons in the pub and was well-liked by her fellow customers. Furthermore, she was also pretty helpful to all her patrons, valued good company, and loved gossiping and Butterbeer.

When do you meet her?
You will meet Sirona Ryan during your visit to the Hogsmeade region with your fellow companions. During this visit, you are attacked by some armored trolls that you defeat by casting the Ancient Magic in the Town Circle. While heading to the Three Broomsticks, you will overhear Ranrok and Victor Rookwood talking about the Troll attack. As it turns out, Victor was connected and behind the Troll attack on the Hogsmeade village.
As you enter the Three Broomsticks, you will see Sirona interacting with the Lodgok Goblin. She will offer you some free Butterbeers and talk about the troll attack. Amidst the conversation, Victor Rookwood and Theophilus Harlow barge into the Pub. Sirona will defend you and your companion from them while throwing them out of the Three Broomsticks.
You can interact with Sirona Ryan to reveal more of her character. Not to spoil more but Sirona Ryan also states that her classmates had difficulties recognizing her as a witch and not a wizard. You can interact with her at the Three Broomsticks Inn for more conversations.
Sirona Ryan Voice Actor
As most of the voice actors are not credited for their roles, it is currently unknown who voices Sirona Ryan. There are several controversies related to her deep monotone voice and her name. Some people claim her to be voiced by a cis-male. However, it’s not confirmed who is voicing the role yet. So, let’s not be quick to judge the voice actor involved!
Laura Kate Dale, an activist known for her writings about trans communities in relation to video games also talked about this. She stated that while the game credits don’t state the voice actors, there is one trans woman listed. It’s most likely to be Rebecca Root voicing Sirona Ryan in Hogwarts Legacy.
I've seen some people saying, confidently, that the trans woman character in Hogwarts Legacy is voiced by a cis man, because the character has a "deep voice"
While the games credits don't tie character to actor, there is one trans woman voice actor listed in the credits.
