Elden Ring is not a game where all the right choices are given to you directly. Sometimes you feel like you should kill and end the suffering of an NPC, but is it the right thing to do? Would they turn out to be more beneficial to you being alive till the end of the game? Such things might seem confusing. This might happen for both Blackguard Boggart & Dung Eater. Today let’s look at why you should not kill Blackguard Boggart & Dung Eater in Elden Ring.
Should You Kill Dung Eater in Elden Ring
You should not kill Dung Eater in Elden Ring in order to complete his questline. You can make him a summon in the game to fight bosses, and you might specifically need him to help you beat Morgot the Omen King. Plus, he gives you an important Great Rune called “Mending Rune of the Fell Curse” to unlock a unique Elden Ring ending.
Once you unlock Altus Plateau, you can reach his room near Twin Maiden Husks in Roundtable Hold. You need to give him a “Seedbed Curse” to start his quest. He will give you a “Sewer-Gaol Key” to open the sewer gaol door (near the Underground Roadside site of grace) in “Subterranean Shunning-Grounds” through Leyndell. You can meet Dung Eater’s body form here.

Now go back to Roundtable Hold to find a note from him, asking to fight him in ‘outer moat‘. If you have not started Blackguard Big Boggart’s quest, then now is the time to reach the point we will mention below. Once you beat Dung Eater, he will happily go back to Roundtable Hold. Bring x5 Seedbed Curses to him to finish his quest and get the Great Rune Mending Rune of the Fell Curse as your quest reward.
Why You Should Not Kill Blackguard Big Boggart in Elden Ring
Blackguard Boggart in Elden Ring is one of the special NPCs that you should not kill and make sure they don’t die. Blackguard Boggart can be really useful as a merchant who will sell you really powerful consumables like Boiled Prawn & Boiled Crab for 600 Runes each.
Boiled Prawn in Elden Ring will decrease damage taken by 15% for 60 secs. Boiled Prawn is also one of the Keepsake options available while creating your character. Likewise, Boiled Crab will decrease damage taken by 20% for 60 secs. You can hold 99 of these consumables and store up to 600 of them. And to buy them you need Blackguard Boggart alive. These consumables are very effective against boss fights so for this reason, you need to keep Blackguard Boggart alive for his questline.
Elden Ring Quest – How to Complete Blackguard Big Boggart Questline
Keep in mind that Blackguard Big Boggart Questline must be completed before beating God-Devouring Serpent in Volcano Manor. This means you need to speak with Rya at Liurnia of the Lakes, before going to Volcano Manor. In Liurnia of the Lakes, Rya will ask you to find her necklace as someone stole it from her.
You can buy Rya’s Necklace from Blackguard Boggart at Boilprawn Shack, for 1000 Runes. You can also kill him to get this Key Item, but today we are discussing why you should not kill Blackguard Boggart. Once you buy the Necklace, you will get access to “Boiled Prawns”. Buying this will make Blackguard Boggart your ally. Now he will be available as a summon for the Magma Wyrm Makar boss battle.
Afterward, he will move to Leyndell, Royal Capital. Now you can start buying “Boiled Crabs” from him. Now he will talk about his prison mate “Dung Eater”. If you have already started Dung Eater’s quest and got his message in “Roundtable Hold” to fight in “Outer Moat”, make sure to stop your dialogue when he says “Dung Eater is nearby”.
You need to make sure Dung Eater does not invade you till Blackguard Big Boggart is in Leyndell, Royal Capital. This is to make sure you get “Seedbed Curse”, a Key Item grown only on the bodies cursed by Dung Eater. So once Dung Eater is ready to meet you in “Outer Moat”, load the area again. You will find Blackguard Boggart now tied to a chair. You will be now invaded by Dung Eater. Now at the end of the quest, you can collect Seedbed Curse along with all of Boggart’s drops.
