In Assassin’s Creed Shadows, scouts play a crucial role in marking enemy locations, gathering resources, and more. Whether you’re going to access as Yasuke or sneaking in as Naoe, properly using scouts can give you a tactical edge. This guide explains how scouts work, how to get more of them, and how to use this feature effectively.
What are Scouts in Assassin’s Creed Shadows?
Scouts are allies that survey areas and mark enemy locations. When you’re told that an enemy is located in a general area, finding the exact spot will take a lot of time. This is where Scouts come in—they can help you narrow down the location and completing the Objective becomes much more efficient.
Moreover, they also help smuggle resources back to your hideout and also help clear your ‘Wanted’ status in a particular area. This can be used once you have Kakurega Level 2 wherein Scouts can be assigned to clear regional alert status. This status appears when enemies ring an alarm bell and increase the challenge of that region.
How to Use Scouts Effectively
Narrowing Down Enemy Locations
- Go to the Objectives tab and track a relevant quest, for example, one that requires you to find the location of a character with some clues given.
- After tracking it, go to the World map.
- With the help of the clue, move your cursor to the general area where that character is supposed to be. Then, press the Scout Objective button which is Square on PlayStation, X on Xbox, and F on PC.
- You should see a circle with a white outline in the area after which a Dispatch button should appear at the bottom of the screen. Press and hold the given prompt (X on PS, A on Xbox) and you will see the objective area marked, given that the original marker was in the right region.
- You can reduce the search zone by upgrading the Study in your Hideout.
Collecting Resources
Scouts can also help you collect resources for your Hideout. If you’re currently in a location that has High Wealth, such as a Castle, use the Observe button to search for useful Stockpiles.
You can mark them and then at the Hideout, assign Scouts to smuggle these resources. They will bring them to you at the start of the next season, so keep an eye out on the Season button at the top right corner of the World menu.
You can reduce the cost of smuggling by upgrading the Stable in your Hideout.
How to Get More Scouts
You can get more scouts by building the Study, which will give you 1 more. However, you can keep upgrading the Study till level 3 and get +1 Scout at each level.
How to Replenish Scouts
Scouts will be automatically refilled when seasons change but you can also manually replenish them for 200 Mon each at any Kakurega.
