Elden Ring Point Of No Return (Explained)

Wondering about the irreversible crucial points? Check out our guide that explains everything about the Point of No Return in Elden Ring.

Elden Ring features a plethora of dungeons, secrets, bosses, multiple endings, and missable quests. Several players are worried about locking themselves out of the content in the game. Unlike other RPGs, the Point of no return is more complex as there are multiple instances. This crucial point can be defined as the moment or place that makes it impossible to revisit the previous game’s content. This includes being locked out of the previous locations, NPCs, quests, items, and more. We have numerous Points of no Return which makes things more intriguing. But how to avoid or get to them? Check out our guide that explains everything about the Point of no return in Elden Ring.

When to Encounter the Point of No Return in Elden Ring (Explained)

As mentioned earlier, there are numerous points of no return. But aside from these points, two major ones can lock you out of some locations. You will encounter the first one once you defeat the Fire Giant and burn the Erdtree. And the second one occurs when you defeat Maliketh, the Black Blade.

Let’s look into both of these irreversible Points of No return in more detail:

Burning the Erdtree

Once you defeat the Fire Giant, you will gain access to the Forge of Giants. You need to pass through this location to reach the Crumbling Farum Azula. As you reach there, you have to interact with Melina. If you choose to burn down the Erdtree, you will make most of the NPCs at the Roundtable Hold disappear.

While you may not find Rodrieka at the same spot, you can find the Smithing Master Hewg and Two Fingers at the same spot. If you are looking for Rodrieka, you can search for her near the fireplace.

Killing Maliketh, the Black Blade

You will encounter another point of no return as you defeat and kill Maliketh, the Black Blade. Upon doing so, you will cover the entire Leyndell in ashes. As a result, you will be locked out of several locations of Leyndell including the Royal Capital. But defeating Maliketh and covering Leyndell in ashes is necessary to obtain the legendary Talismans. If you cannot find Maliketh in the first place, check out our guide on how to find Maliketh, the Black Blade.
