GTA 6’s latest gameplay reveal has answered one big question about Jason and Lucia: their relationship will play an important role in the game. In the Netflix footage, we saw plenty of clips and cutscenes that indicate that they will spend a lot of time together. But can players actually date Lucia, or is their romance fixed as part of the story?
Jason and Lucia Are Partners
Rockstar has made it clear that Jason and Lucia are closely connected. Its official character page even describes a life with Jason as Lucia’s possible way out after leaving prison. The latest gameplay look also showed the two holding hands, and hanging out outside of missions. Their relationship is clearly a major part of the game. This brings us to the question…
Can You Date Lucia?
There is no separate dating system where you start a new romance with Lucia. Instead, Rockstar has confirmed that the relationship between Jason and Lucia can be influenced by the player’s actions.
According to Rockstar North co-studio head Rob Nelson, the romantic side of their relationship is optional. You can go for shopping, dates, go scuba diving, visit a zoo or even rob places together to boost their relationship if you’d like. If you choose not to play the romantic elements, they will stay platonic and continue working together. Don’t worry, you will not be punished for skipping the romance.
In short, GTA 6 gives players some control over Jason and Lucia’s relationship, but it is not the same as choosing Lucia as a girlfriend from scratch.

Can Jason and Lucia Break Up?
Apparently not. Rockstar has said that the two will remain partners in crime regardless of how the player handles their relationship. Their romantic connection can change, but their partnership will continue.
GTA 6 is set to release on November 19, 2026.
