If you have gone through the roster but don’t want to choose someone with zero combos and strings accidentally, then here is our Mortal Kombat 1 Character Tier List to make things easy for you. The latest installment brings back most of its iconic characters with the addition of a few extras because of the new Kameo system. Excluding all the Kameo characters the game has in place, players will get to try around 23 characters from the main roster.
Each character in MK1 has its unique abilities, moves, combos, and strings. However, not all the characters you come across will be convenient to use from the get-go. Especially when you are looking for those damage combos. So if you aren’t sure which are the best characters in the main roster and which ones have the worst combo possibilities, then check out this MK1 fighters tier list guide further.

MK1 Tier List
Here is how the Mortal Kombat 1 Character Tier List works and what it’s based on:
- S Tier: In the S Tier, you will come across the best overall characters considering all their move sets and abilities. All of them excel in multiple fronts of combat. These characters will also have a high pick rate among players because of the combos and strings they provide and just how convenient they are. With the right Kameo combination and skill sets, players can get a variety of damage combos out of them.
- A Tier: Characters in this list are solid in most of the aspects of combat. While you may find the combo possibilities of these characters to be a little less than the S Tier, they still can do extensive damage with their move sets. These are still reliable and are more than easy to master.
- B Tier: In this tier, you will come across characters with very few combo possibilities in MK1. You will find these characters to be more hard to master in the game. For extensive damage, players will have to rely on the Kameo characters to continue the character combos.
- C Tier: C Tier consists of characters that not necessarily are the worst but they are still the weakest of the bunch when compared to other MK1 characters. You will find these characters to be sluggishly slow and with even fewer damage combos than the B tier. So if you are looking to deal extensive damage then you should steer clear of these characters.

As mentioned before, the S Tier characters are the absolute best characters in every condition. For example, someone like Kenshi, being one of the best zoners in the game, players can utilize his Sento abilities to their fullest.
You will find most of the characters in the A Tier like Scorpion, Kung Lao, Liu Kang, etc., and all of them have great potential in combat.
While the B Tier will take some time to adapt to they are still more than viable. Players can steer away from using C Tier characters in any combat because of their low combo possibilities and the time taken to master them.
