The Once Human Mining Platform, also known as the Auto Miner, is a great tool for late-game resource gathering grind. What does the Auto Miner in Once Human Do?
This Mining platform produces ore based on the type of surrounding mineral resources. It also pairs with The Digby Boy for automated gathering. This is where the option to move your territory will come in handy because you need to have your base around the ore that you need the most of.
How to Get the Mining Platform in Once Human
You need to unlock the “Mining Operation Platform” technology in the Memetics Infrastructure tech tree, as shown here.
To craft it in your base, you will need 25x Tungsten Ingots, 30x Electronic Parts, 15x Metal Scraps, 15x Adhesive, 20x Rubber and 4x Storage Batteries to build this auto miner platform in Once Human.
Tungsten Ingots can be created by smelting Tungsten Ore in the Electric Furnace. Electronic Parts can be obtained by disassembling scraps. The same goes for Metal Scraps, Rubber and Adhesive. Storage Batteries can be crafted on the Intermediate or Advanced Supplies Workbench.
Crafting the Auto Miner
Once unlocked, head over to your crafting menu and build the Mining Platform. Find a resource-rich area and deploy the platform and make sure it’s within range of the desired resource nodes.
Interact with the platform and select the specific resource you want it to mine. Then, activate the platform. The platform will display a timer indicating the mining duration. Once it’s finished, return and collect the mined resources from the platform’s storage.
The platform operates on a set timer, usually around 60 minutes. Make sure you return before the timer runs out to collect the resources.
There have been some reports of bugs where the timer resets or resources disappear. Some players suggest saving your game before activating the platform to mitigate potential losses.
Note that regular mining doesn’t yield Stardust. You’ll need a specific memetic specialization that allows refining Startrace Ore (found in the Red Sands) into Stardust using the platform.
How to Find the Best Spot to Use Auto Miner Platform in Once Human
There is no single ‘best’ spot to use the auto miner because your requirements will be different from the next player. However, there is a way to know which is the best location for you. What you need is the Resource Detector to scan the surroundings in a potential area before you decide to move your base. This will let you know the ores that you can mine in that specific region.
To craft the Resource Detector at the Intermediate Supplies Workbench, you need 15x Aluminum Ingot (smelting ores at the Electric Furnace), 5x Glass (Crafting in the Furnace), 20x Electronic Parts (Disassembling scraps) and 3x Storage Batteries.
Once crafted, hold it in your hand to detect underground resources. It has a limited range due to low power but pretty handy to quickly know which ores are under where you’re standing.
A good trick suggested by YouTube Fringe Patriot Gaming is to climb a hill and glide down to get a quick overview of what you can find in a certain location. If you’re playing with friends, one member can drive and another player can hold this Resource Detector to scan surroundings and choose the best spot to use the mining platform in Once Human.
