How to Get Lockpicking Tools in Palworld
A treasure chest would typically need a Key but if you have this tool with you, you can still open the chest and grab the loot. Players have to craft a lockpicking tool but know that there are 3 tiers of these tools (V1, V2 and V3). To make them, you require a High-Quality Workbench.
- Lockpicking Tool v1 needs 10 Ingots, 10 Paldium Fragments and 5 Nails. (1 Ancient Civilization Point).
- Lockpicking Tool v2 needs 20 Ingots, 20 Paldium Fragments, and 10 Nails (2 Ancient Civilization Points).
- Lockpicking Tool v3 needs 30 Ingots, 30 Paldium Fragments, 20 Nails (3 Ancient Civilization Points).
These can be unlocked at levels 16, 28 and 51 on the Technology tab.
Now that you have the items, take a look at how to make a Lockpick in Palworld:
- Go to a high quality workbench or Assembly Line.
- Click on Select Recipe.
- Choose the lockpicking tool and confirm the quantity.
- Start the production.
- After it’s done, click on Acquire.
How to Use Lockpicking Tools on Treasure Chests
- Find a Locked Chest: Look for chests in the world, typically made of bronze, silver, or gold.
- Interact with the Chest: Approach the chest and press the “Lockpick” button (V on PC, Y on Xbox).
- Lockpicking Minigame: A minigame will appear, showing a key-like tool interacting with the lock.
- Rotate the Tool Parts: Use your mouse/joystick to rotate the two parts of the lockpicking tool.
- Find the Sweet Spot: Move the tool parts until they engage the lock mechanism and turn smoothly. If it doesn’t turn, keep adjusting until you find the right spot.
- Open the Chest: Once the tool turns completely, the chest will unlock, and you can claim your treasure!
Things to keep in mind:
- Each Lockpicking Tool tier opens specific chests:
- V1 – Copper Chests
- V2 – Silver Chests
- V3 – Gold Chests (and any lower tier chest)
- You only need one tool per chest attempt.
- The lockpicking minigame has unlimited attempts, so don’t worry about breaking the tool.
- With a V3 tool, you can bypass the need for any key type altogether.
