When things are going haywire in your city, Crime will be on the rise and that happens when there’s a Goods Scarcity and an increase in Population Size. While it will be a natural addition to your gameplay as time passes, there are ways to reduce Crime in Frostpunk 2 – here are some effective ways.
How to Lower Crime in Frostpunk 2
To lower Crime, you need surveillance in your Expanded Housing District and that can be added by building Prisons and Watchtowers. Head to the Idea tree, go to the Society tab, and unlock Watchtowers first.
There’s Surveillance Watchtower, Patrol Watchtower, and Watchtower that can help you combat growing criminal activities. Then, there’s Thought-Correction Prison, Punitive Prison, and Isolation Prison that can be unlocked.
Focusing on solving the Goods Scarcity will greatly help reduce Crime and that can be done by ensuring more Industrial Districts are working on Goods production. If you expand these Industrial Districts, you get a better Goods output that will be useful if you’re running out.
Passing relevant laws will also help you with the crime rate in your districts. Find laws like Durable Goods which decreases the demand for Goods, and Paid Essentials which slightly increases Production Efficiency and Heatstamps Income per capita will be useful.
Another way to decrease Crime is to research Dutiful Youth. This is where young adults of your city participate in volunteering activities under the supervision of elders who teach them moral values.
You will also find Crime Elimination, Criminal Reparations, and Guard Immunity under the Society tab.
Aside from this, be sure to explore the Resources tab of the Idea Tree and research Goods Factories, and Factories – both of which have the pot icon of Goods.
Under Factories, you can build Salvaging Factories and Mechanical Factories and under Goods Factory, you can get Refurbishing Goods Factories and Calibrated Goods Factories. These will be useful to boost the amount of Goods you have, leading to a happier population with a lower crime rate. Be careful with Factories, though, because it can lead to pollution, causing Squalor and Disease.
Lastly, you can enlist your faction members to your Militia and you can do this by clicking on the icon and the star tab on the pop-up.
You should be able to see the “Enlist to Steward’s Militia” button right here. From the “Propose a Law” screen, click on Rule and you will find various options to curb Crime, like Guard Enforces, Steward’s Militia and Martial Law.
These were the most common ways to reduce Crime in Frostpunk 2. However, this isn’t the only thing that can lead to total chaos. Here’s what you need to do to manage Tension in the game.
