There are many bosses in God of War Ragnarok, but a few take the cake when it comes to being the hardest. Be it a lot of HP, a good number of moves and attack patterns, or anything that makes them strong. These are a the ones that just blow others out of the water when it comes to fighting them. So here are 5 of the most difficult boss fights in God of War Ragnarok.
5 Hardest Bosses in God of War Ragnarok
You might not be playing on Give me God of War Difficulty, but these bosses are sure to give you a glimpse of what that mode would feel like:
5. Nidhogg
4. King Hrolf Kraki
3. Hrist and Mist
2. Odin
1. Gna, the Valkyrie Queen
Since there are plenty of fights in the game that aren’t easy in the slightest. Here are some honorable mentions in no particular order for being the other tough bosses in this game.
- Heimdall
- Alva
- Thor
- Garm
- Vanadis
Also, in case you haven’t completed the game, then there will be minor spoilers ahead. So you should come back and check why they are the hard ones once you beat the game if you don’t want to get spoiled.
5. Nidhogg
This is a rather sad fight because when you simplify it, you are killing a guard on duty. Nidhogg is a Lyndwyrm, whose only duty is to protect the roots of the Yggdrasil. And that is all that this fight is about. But while you might feel sad about it for a few moments when the fight starts. This will soon be replaced by frustration.
Nidhogg is a giant Lindwyrm that takes up a good chunk of the area where you will be fighting it. Thus there is not much room to run when it comes to dodging. But that will be the least of your worries because its moves are very random. Not to mention its attacks can do a lot of damage to the duo. Overall this will be a very tough fight but you should get used to it in some tries and finish it off in no time.
4. King Hrolf Kraki
King Hrolf Kraki is not only the Berserker king but one hell of a tank when compared to some other bosses in the game. Firstly, has a large health pool. Secondly, he turns his HP into the Enhanced life bar regularly. So you will also need a weapon like the Draupnir spear to chip his enhanced life bar way. And usually, when you think of a tanky enemy, you think of someone who is slow. But King Hrolf isn’t.
He will use several attacks like Hammer Pound, Jump Smack, Hammer Thrust Dash, Hammer Charge, Ice projectiles, and more. And for most of his moves, you will need to dodge instead of parrying. So be prepared to do a lot of chip damage to this boss. Cause this fight will take quite some time to get over.
3. Hrist and Mist
Valkyries have always been difficult foes in the recent two entries of the God of War games. And Hrist and Mist decided to be Jesse and James from Team Rocket here. No not the goofy part of them getting launched into the sky with a thunderbolt. But the part where you should prepare for trouble and make it double. What is worse than fighting one hard Valkyrie? Fighting two of them at the same time.
This is also nice in a way because, during most of your fights, you have Atreus or Freya helping you. So in a way, this will be a 2v2 match. But the fight won’t feel like one. Because not only are these Valkyries very fast, they surprisingly can take a lot of hits before going down. Not to mention at one point in the fight both will heal and regain their HP to add an extra challenge to the fight.
2. Odin
Not so surprisingly, the main antagonist of this game turns out to be the All father Odin. During his fight, you will see his true combat prowess. And will understand why he is the ruler of the nine realms. Or why he has been feared by most. But don’t let that get to you. Sure he might have all sorts of melee and ranged attacks. But so do you.
Odin is the perfect balance of speed and strong melee attacks. These can chip away a lot of your health. But when it comes to his ranged attacks, he won’t disappoint you there either. But defeating him will make the victory even sweeter. As this isn’t the first time Kratos has killed a King of the Gods.
1. Gna, the Valkyrie Queen – Hardest Boss in God of War Ragnarok
Finally, we have Gna, the new Valkyrie queen. She follows in the footsteps of Sigrun in being the fiercest warrior in these games. Sigrun was a pain to deal with back in God of War (2018). And just like her, the new Valkyrie queen won’t be giving you any easy fight. Due to her loyalty to Odin, she has a special Hatred for Kratos, which you will find out as soon as the fight starts.
The good news is this fight becomes available after you beat the main story. So not only do you get to prepare your weapons, armor, and upgrades. But you should be very accustomed to them by now. And this is something that you will see put to the test. She has a plethora of moves to use against you. And she even punishes you for the mistakes you make, so be sure to practice your blocks and parries and know when to attack. Don’t worry after a few tries and once you get used to her moves, that is when you will actually be able to beat her.
