Grow a Garden Primal Eggs and Pets Guide

The Primal Egg was introduced in the Prehistoric update and there are multiple ways to obtain it in Grow a Garden. It requires 4 hours and 10 minutes to hatch so if you’d like some unique pets in your garden with helpful abilities, this guide has all the information you need.

How to Get a Primal Egg

    • Crafting: Requires 1 Dinosaur Egg, 1 Bone Blossom, and 5.5 million Sheckles. The process takes about 30 minutes and unlocks after upgrading the DNA Machine to stage 3 .
    • DNA Machine trading: After upgrading, trading pets with Graham at the machine gives a chance to receive 1–4 Primal Eggs.
    • In‑game purchase: You can spend Robux (149 per egg) to instantly obtain eggs; upgrading the DNA Machine enables better access through the Limited Time Shop.

To upgrade the DNA machine, interact with the Raptor at the center of the map and give him Prehistoric plants. Keep doing this to fill up the bar (which has weight requirements) above the dinosaur and you can upgrade the machine this way.

    What are the Prehistoric plants?

    • Stonebite
    • Paradise Petal
    • Horned Dinoshroom
    • Boneboo
    • Firefly Fern
    • Fossilight
    • Bone Blossom
    • Grand Volcania
    • Lingonberry
    • Amber Spine
    • Horsetail

Which Pets can Hatch from a Primal Egg?

Each Primal Egg hatches into one of six dinosaur-themed pets with unique passive effects:

    Pet Rarity Hatch Chance Ability
Parasaurolophus Legendary ~35 % Every ~80 s reduces cosmetic‑crate timer (26 % chance for open time reduction to be multiplied by 1.87x).
Iguanodon Legendary ~32.5 % Adds ~0.44–0.50 XP/s to all active dinosaur pets.
    Pachycephalosaurus Legendary ~28 % ~6–7 % chance to duplicate a crafted item.
Dilophosaurus Mythical ~3 % Every ~13–14 min, poisons ~3–4 pets—either reduces cooldown or gives ~600 XP.
Ankylosaurus Mythical ~1 % ~16 % chance to get a fruit back if another player steals it.
Spinosaurus Divine ~0.5 % Every ~19–20 min, steals mutations from ~3–4 fruits and spreads one to another. It will prioritize Favorited plants.

Which Pet is the Best Choice for you?

Since all players have different focuses and are at different stages of gameplay, here are our suggestions:

    • Spinosaurus is the top choice if you’re prioritizing making your garden packed with mutations.
    • Pachycephalosaurus is for players who want more crafting-based items.
    • Dilophosaurus is great for boosting the XP of pets, and Iguanodon is ideal if you have only Dinosaurs in your garden.
    • While Parasaurolophus is a unique addition to your garden visually, its ability isn’t ideal.
    • If you’ve gotten your fruits stolen a lot, the Ankylosaurus might help you in that regard.

What is the Premium Primal Egg in Grow a Garden?

Released alongside the regular version, the Premium Primal Egg hatches in just 30 seconds and can be purchased using Robux through the Limited Time Shop or DNA Machine after upgrades.

    Price Options

    • 1 egg: 149 Robux
    • 3 eggs: 429 Robux
    • 10 eggs: 1,269 Robux

It offers the same six pets as the standard Primal Egg but with improved hatch speed, potentially better chances at rarer pets, and a 1% chance to hatch a Rainbow Premium Primal Egg, which adds high rarity and cosmetic value. The Rainbow Premium variant includes rainbow-themed versions of all six pets, with probabilities of 30%, 25%, 20%, 10%, 8% and 7% for the order of pets as shown in the table above.
