BG3: Should You Give Gale The Artifacts? (Answered)

Unsure about giving your precious artifacts to Gale in BG3? Find out if you should give Gale the artifacts and items in Baldur's Gate 3.

If you have a wizard in your party, you might want to know if you should give Gale the artifacts and items in Baldur’s Gate 3. Due to his past backstory, Gale must consume artifacts and magical items to survive. But being morally uptight and a Prodigy wizard, this request might feel a bit unexpected.

Despite that, feeding or not feeding him artifacts has some dire consequences. Since BG3 is a game that has numerous choices and consequences for those, it is natural that players could get confused. Don’t worry, check out our guide to find out if you should give Gale the items and artifacts in BG3.

Should You Give Gale the Artifacts in Baldur’s Gate 3

Yes, giving Gale the artifacts in Baldur’s Gate 3 is the best option if you want him as your companion. However, if you don’t give the artifacts to Gale, he will make a deal with the Devil. And he will dislike you for not giving up the uncommon magical items when he asked for them. On the contrary, you can gain and increase his approval by giving Gale the items and artifacts. You must give him three magical items during Act 1 to progress with his quest line.

If you kill him, he will appear as a spectral magical projection asking you to revive him. He will state that you must revive him within two days. Rather than going through this hassle, we suggest continuing to sacrifice your unneeded artifacts or items to Gale. Soon as you offer it to him, Gale would absorb it destroying it, completely.

You don’t have to offer Gale the artifacts in BG3, constantly. Instead, you must give them whenever you see an Exclamation mark hovering above his head. Once you speak to him, you can donate the magic items in your inventory. Regardless of the stats, Gale can consume magical artefacts, items, and weapons.

What Artifacts to Give Gale in BG3?

For giving Gale the Artifacts or items in BG3, check the in-game item description by clicking the item in your Inventory. Being indicated with an Exclamation mark next to it, it states “Gale can absorb this item’s magic, destroying it“. And luckily, whenever you donate Gale the items in Baldur’s Gate 3,  the available required items will be automatically displayed.

Nevertheless, here are some magic Artifacts and items you can give to Gale:

  • The Staff of Crones
  • The Necromancy of Thay
  • Idol of Silvanus
  • Iron Flask
  • Uncommon Clothing

You can feed Gale any magical items or artifacts with Uncommon rarity and unless they are blessed by a deity. These include Sacred or Divine weapons, Absolute-powered items, and more artifacts. On the brighter side, you can get rid of unneeded items, materials, or weapons while managing more space in your inventory.
