Minecraft features a plethora of passive mobs or animals that spawn across the vast-open world. One of these includes the Sniffer which is an Ancient passive animal or mob. What’s intriguing about this mob is that it’s the winner of the Minecraft Mob vote 2022. This passive mob beat out the Rascal and Tuff Golem by accumulating over 55% of the overall vote. But can you find or get this mob? Check out our guide on how to find the Sniffer in Minecraft to find out.
How to Find Sniffer in Minecraft
Unfortunately, Sniffer cannot spawn naturally around the biomes in Minecraft. You have to find its Ancient egg and hatch it to spawn the Sniffer mob. As it’s an Ancient type of Mob, you will have to spawn them by hatching their eggs. You can find the Sniffer eggs only around the Suspicious sand located in Desert Wells and Pyramids. Once you have hatched their eggs, they will spawn the Snifflet (younger version) which can grow into the Sniffer.
After it has grown to Sniffer, it will dig out the different plants and seeds. You simply have to collect them. The sniffer mobs can also dig out the seeds for your decorative plants. So, this passive mob is a great addition to the mob collection in Minecraft.
How to Get Sniffer in Minecraft Snapshot 23W07A & Beta
With the launch of the fifth addition to the Minecraft Java edition, you can also get the Sniffer as an experimental feature. There are mainly two ways to spawn the Sniffer or Snifflet in Beta and Snapshot. They are as follows:
- Using the Creative Inventory
- Console Commands
So, let’s delve into both the above methods in more detail.
Using the Creative Inventory
You can enable all the 1.20 update features and content to find the Sniffer mob in Minecraft. But before that, you have to create a new Minecraft world with 1.20 content and features. Follow the below steps to create a new world:
- Firstly, launch Minecraft and choose the Singleplayer option from the Main Menu.
- Hit the Create New World option and enter a preferable World Name for that.
- Now, toggle the option for Game Mode to Creative and turn on the Allow Cheats option.
- Then, hit the Experiments option and turn on the Update 1.20 option.
- Make sure to select the Done option to save your applied settings. Also, hit the Proceed option to create the world.
Once you have created a new world, you simply have to use the Creative inventory to spawn a Sniffer mob. Alternatively, you can also spawn the Snifflet to grow them into Sniffer. So, follow the below steps to spawn a Sniffer egg:
- Hit the E button key or other controls to prompt the Creative inventory.
- Type the Sniffer in the Search bar.
- Search for the Sniffer spawn egg and select it.
- Then, drag it out of the Creative inventory and place it on your inventory.
- Lastly, select the Sniffer spawn egg and right-click on it to spawn them
Console Commands
The easiest way to get the Sniffer is by using the Commands on Minecraft. All you need to do is type the commands on the chat menu to spawn them. So, here’s the command to spawn the Sniffer:
- /summon sniffer
If you are looking to spawn the Snifflet or younger Sniffer, here’s the command:
- /summon sniffer ~ ~ ~ {Age:-99999999}
