Fairy Type Pokemon Weakness (All Strengths & Best Counters)

Published Date :

The Fairy Type Pokemon are some of the most unique and powerful ones with the least weaknesses that you will ever come across. Introduced in the sixth generation, these adorable but formidable Pokemon were released for the reason of balancing out the power of dragon-type Pokemon. These are some of the rarest Pokemon that you would find and considering their move set and skill you might want to know more about them.

Having said that, if you are playing Scarlet & Violet then having a Fairy Type Pokemon in your party can help you set up an optimal combination to go against the gyms. However, there are a few weaknesses that you will have to remember before entering the Pokemon into a battle. Not to mention, if you haven’t caught one already you might want to know the weaknesses in general. With that out of the way, here is a list of all the weaknesses and resistances along with their strengths.

All Fairy Type Pokemon Weakness

List Of All Fairy Type Pokemon Weakness, Strength & Counters

Fairy Type Pokemon are weak to two different types namely Poison and Steel. It is worth mentioning that if you are looking to visit any games before Gen 6, you may not find these weaknesses valid for certain Pokemon. For example, Togepi was considered a normal type Pokemon, and since Gen 6 has gone on to become a fairy type Pokemon.

If you are someone trying to catch a Fairy Type Pokemon having poison or steel-type Pokemon in your party is ideal. Any poison or steel-type attacks can deal super effective damage against them. However, we would recommend not to use poison type against a Pokemon that have psychic attacks at their disposal. Others will have to be aware of their weakness and play different Pokemon accordingly.

Fairy Type Pokemon Strength & Resistances

The biggest strength of Fairy Type Pokemon is their resistance and effectiveness against Dragon Type Pokemon. Since they were introduced to balance out the power of dragon-type Pokemon, you will be able to deal massive damage to them. Not to mention, fairy type attacks are also super effective against fighting and dark-type Pokemon.

As mentioned before, players will find Fairy Type Pokemon to be completely resistant to Dragon Type attacks. Such attacks have no effect and will not deal any damage to their health pool. Along with dragon type, they are also resistant to Fighting, Bug & Dark type attacks. Although you will find them dealing damage they are not quite as effective as poison or steel type. Having said that, we would suggest you not use them while fighting against Fire type Pokemon as they won’t be able to deal as effective damage.

Best Fairy Type Pokemon Counters

The best counters against Fairy Type Pokemon would be to play along with their weaknesses. While most of the steel type Pokemon will do, some with the likes of Metagross, Magnezone, Empoleon, etc will be the most effective. Up and unless you come across a Fairy Type Pokemon with psychic attacks using poison pokemon like Muk, Nidoking/Nidoqueen, Arbok, etc will also be effective in battle.
