One of the objectives in Dredge that you get from the Research Assistant is to collect all samples. It is a side quest that you can complete to help her deal with the giant creature that is causing problems. So here is a quick guide on where you can find each of these samples and the reward that you get for this quest.
How to Collect All Samples for the Research Assistant in Dredge
You need to catch a total of 7 fish for the Research Assistant to collect their samples. And this objective is divided into two phases. You collect 3 fish first and the remaining 2 in the next phase. The fishes that you need to catch are:
- Phase 1
- Aurora Jellyfish: Catch at night in the Stellar Basin. Use a trawl net for it.
- Firefly Squid: Catch at night in the Stellar Basin. Use a trawl net for it.
- Glowing Octopus: Catch at night in the Stellar Basin. Use a rod for it.
- Phase 2
- Anglerfish: Catch during the day or night at the Abyssal Spots. Use a rod for it.
- Giant Amphipod: Catch it at the Abyssal Spots. Use a rod for it.
- Loosejaw: Catch it in the Hadal Disturbed Waters. Use a rod for it.
- Snailfish: Catch it in the Hadal Disturbed Waters. Use a rod for it.
Here is what you need to do:
- Talk to the Research Assistant to get this quest. You can find her at the Old Fortress in Stellar Basin.
- Next, go and catch the Aurora Jellyfish, Firefly Squid, and Glowing Octopus.
- Go back to the Assistant to give her the samples.
- Next, she will ask you to find the Prototype Part at the Research Outpost.
- Go there and get this item then come back to the Research Assistant to get the Sampling Device from her. You can now unlock Abyssal and Hadal fishing.
- Catch the remaining fish mentioned above and bring them to the Research Assistant.
Doing this will complete the Collect All Samples objective. You get the “A Plan for the Future” book as a reward for it. Make sure to read it to start using its perks.
