You have to unlock the Judge feature to check the IVs of Pokemon. However, you will unlock this feature by completing the Victory Road storyline. Meaning you have to defeat all the Gym Leaders across Paldea. Then, you have to beat the Elite Four and the Top Champion, Geeta. After becoming a Pokemon Champion, head over to the closest Poke Center and talk to the lady there. Now, you will be able to use the Judge function.

IVs are your Pokemon’s stats that determine the outcome of a battle. Use the IV checker by opening your Pokemon Box and pressing the ‘+ Button’ twice. The IVs will be graded as follows:

  • Best
  • Fantastic
  • Very Good
  • Pretty Good
  • Decent
  • No Good

Now, if you want the best team for competitive battles, you should aim for the ‘Best’ grade. The game allows you to increase your Pokemon’s IVs through Hyper Training.

How to Increase Your Pokemon’s IVs

To use Hyper Training, head over to Montenevera and talk to an NPC with the Abomasnow. He will be standing behind the Montenevera Poke Center. To access Hyper Training, you will have to pay him with a Bottle Cap or a Gold Bottle Cap. You can buy Bottle Caps from the Delibird Present shops for 20,000 Poke Dollars or LP. Once you have the bottle cap, offer it to the NPC. Then, you have to select the Pokemon and the Stat you want to raise, and Start the Training. Then it’ll take a couple of seconds to increase your Pokemon’s IV. Note that your Pokemon has to be level 50 or higher to receive Hyper Training.
