Yes, you can change your appearance in BG3 using the Mask of the Shapeshifter, a premium Deluxe edition item. But if you haven’t bought the Deluxe edition copy, you cannot customize your appearance. If you have bought the Digital Deluxe edition copy, you can equip this item to change and pick a race. As you use this item will allow you to customize or respec your appearance at any point. But before that, return to your camp and grab the Mask of the Shapeshifter from the Traveler’s Chest.

Follow the below steps to change your appearance in Baldur’s Gate 3:

  • Head to your camp and take the Mask of the Shapeshifter item.
  • Open your inventory and equip the item.
  • As you do so, you will find an icon indicating a Mask with a plus sign.
  • Select the option to choose any appearance with various available races.
  • Once your appearance is selected, unequip the mask and you will have the same disguise.

However, as it is a level 1 Illusion spell, you will have this appearance only until long rest. Also, note that there are plenty of ways to change your character’s appearance in several ways. Other than using this item, there is no way to change your appearance. So, the players not owning a Deluxe copy sadly won’t be able to customize their character’s appearance.

But that being said, the developers could add an item to permanently alter appearance in the future updates or patches. If that happens, we will make sure to update this guide.

That’s all about how to change your appearance in Baldur’s Gate 3. If you liked this guide, check out our more guides on how to become an Oathbreaker, how to highlight items and objects, and more BG3 Guides right here on Gamer Tweak.
