Sons of the Forest is a survival horror game, in which managing your inventory is very important. Normally, all you have to do is press the I key to access it. However, many players are facing an issue where they can’t open their inventory in SotF no matter what they do.
Luckily, there are several workarounds that you can try to get it to work. Most of them are also very easy to use. So here are them all.
How to Fix Can’t Open Inventory in Sons of the Forest
Most of these fixes are from the game’s Steam Community forums, you can check the entire thread here.
- Get Downed & Revived: This isn’t exactly a fix that solo players can use, but if you are playing with friends then it can work for you. Basically, the player who isn’t able to open their inventory has to ask their friend to kill them. Once down, ask them to revive you. When you are back you should be able to use your inventory. Thanks to Steam user Pooh for sharing this method.
- Give Kelvin an order: Another odd solution for this error is to give some order to Kelvin. After that, you should be able to access your inventory. This fix comes from Steam User Giovanni Giorgio and many players seem to confirm it to be working.
- Fill Up Inventory with Sticks: Speaking of weird ways to fix this problem, one of the things you can do is fill up your inventory with sticks then eat a berry. Doing so can also solve this error. This fix is from Steam user TheDoops.
If the above fixes don’t work for you then here are some general workarounds that you can try:
- Reload your save: This fix is especially handy for solo players. If you can set up a tent and save your game then nothing like it. But if you can’t, then reload your latest save and you should be able to access your inventory now.
- Restart the game: Close the game and start it again. You can even exit Steam and launch the game from here.
- Check game files: Go to your Steam Library and look for Sons of the Forest. Right-click on the game and go to Properties. Click on Verify file integrity from Installed files. Wait for Steam to finish the file scan and once done try playing the game.
Using the above fixes you should be able to fix the Can’t Open Inventory bug in Sons of the Forest.
