While exploring the different landscapes of Helldivers 2, players are not going to come across enemies as powerful and smart as Automatons. Although dangers exist almost every step of the way, players are often met with weaker enemy outposts. However, if you are to face off and beat Automatons in Helldivers 2, you will need to know their type, weaknesses, and some strategy around them.
Each Automaton has a different kind of strength and weakness and you will have to understand how fighting with each works. Although if you cannot completely avoid them, choosing the best drop places will help you face fewer Automatons. If you are finding it a challenging task to beat them, our guide has everything you will need.

How to Beat All Automatons in Helldivers 2
- Trooper – These Automatons carry machine guns and are susceptible to grenades and headshots. Players will have to position themselves properly for a headshot since their armor can withstand most other damage. If you are close to them, you can easily lay down some grenades and take them down quickly.
- Marauder – These Automatons carry cannons and are susceptible to grenades and headshots. Players will have to position themselves properly for a headshot since their armor can withstand most other damage. If you are close to them, you can easily lay down some grenades and take them down quickly.
- Raider – These Automatons carry rocket launchers and are susceptible to grenades and headshots. Players will have to position themselves properly for a headshot since their armor can withstand most other damage. If you are close to them, you can easily lay down some grenades and take them down quickly.
- Commissar – Although they can be taken down with headshots and grenades, they carry an orange sword that can be very dangerous. Make sure you keep your distance and aim at their heads to bring them down. While close range is not a good idea, if you find them nearby, don’t be afraid to use grenades.
- Scout Strider – Their long legs make them an easy target to fire at but a difficult one to beat. The Pilot at the back is the main part of the Scout Strider and players need to fire at the limbs and immobilize the Pilot after which taking it down will be easy.
- Berserker – These Automatons in Helldivers 2 are equipped with chainsaws in their arms with a large exoskeleton protecting them from damage. However, their weakness lies in headshots and grenades. Finding yourself closer to them can be dangerous since they can wipe you off quickly. Keeping that in mind, players can maintain a safe distance since they are slow and easily target their heads.
- Devastator – Things get difficult when it comes to beating Devastator in Helldivers 2. Their weakness is a red core in the center of their chest and players need to target that to get rid of them. However, it won’t be easy with the exoskeleton suit and the kind of weapons in their arms.
- Hulk – The only weakness that the Hulk (a giant armored mech) has in Helldivers 2 is its slow movement. It is extremely difficult to beat this enemy without Stratagems like Autocannon that can pierce through it. If you have one on standby, use the Stratagem Codes necessary to bring it down.
- Tank – There are two types of Tanks that players can come up against, the Shredder Tank and the Annihilator Tank. Players will need Anti-Tank guns for the Shredder Tank and Orbital Strikes for the Annihilator Tank. However, that’s not all, players need to fire at the back of the gun on the Shredder Tank. This can only be done if your team is already distracting it and you have clear shots to take it down.
- Dropship – These are probably the most annoying Automatons in Helldivers 2 since they can bring backup Automatons to the fight. If you want to take them out, you will have to fire at the engines quickly without any recoil. However, if they land, make sure you use one of the AoE Stratagems that can take out the backup troops quickly.
Note that if you have the Anti-Material Rifle in Helldivers 2, you will be able to pick off easy enemies like Trooper, Marauder, and Raider with a simple one-shot.
While Automatons in Helldivers 2 appear depending on the mission difficulty, it’s important to remember how to beat each of them. Since you are playing Helldivers 2, check out our other guides in our dedicated section here at Gamer Tweak.
