Soon after you start Assassin’s Creed Shadows, you are given a dialogue choice between “I Understand You Well” and “Say Nothing?” when you’re Yasuke/Diogo. These options appear when you’re bowing in front of Oda Nobunaga in the prologue. As the conversation unfolds, he notices that Yasuke has the instincts of a warrior, as his eyes find every threat in the room. To this, Valignano replies that Yasuke does not understand them which is clearly untrue. So, should you reveal that you do understand them or should you say nothing? Will this get you in trouble? Get the consequences for each option below.

I Understand You Well or Say Nothing Choice in Assassin’s Creed Shadows
- When you select the “I understand you well” option, the room is filled with surprise and Oda Nobunaga has a quick response for Father Valignano.
- When you select the “Say nothing” option, Father Valignano continues the conversation.
Without spoiling what happens next, know that the choice here doesn’t influence the outcome, but only changes the way characters react. Soon after the reactions and a slight change in the cutscene, the narrative will merge. In both scenarios, Oda Nobunaga has an inkling that Yasuke does understand him.
After choosing Say Nothing, you get one more opportunity to respond where you say either “I was following Valignano’s orders” or “I am still learning your language and customs” and even in this case, any option works because it doesn’t impact the storyline.
