With the release of Diablo IV closer, it’s a great time to brush up on the lore and storyline of some returning characters. This brings us to the question asked by many new players, who is Lorath Nahr in Diablo 4? While first appearing in the Reaper of Souls expansion, his character development has been pretty fleshed out over thirty years. But what is his role in the most recent Diablo entry? And who is the voice actor for this character? Don’t worry, here’s where you can find everything about Lorath’s lore, history, voice actor, and role in D4.
Who is Lorath Nahr in Diablo 4
Lorath Nahr serves as one of the main characters in Diablo IV’s central plot. He is the narrator and somewhat a mentor to The Wanderer, our character and protagonist in Diablo 4. You will find him living solely in his cabin located in Fractured Peaks. As we look for clues and search his cabin, he appears as a Mountain Hermit. Rather than attacking us for trespassing, Lorath Nahr asks us to join him for supper.
Here’s what he says on the first encounter with The Wanderer:
If you’re going to trespass into my home, rifle through my things… then at least have the decency to join me for supper. I’m bloody hungry.
Since our character starts having visions after consuming Lilith’s Blood Petals, Lorath tries to use them to have an edge over Lilith. With the death of Deckard Cain, it seems like Lorath Nahr will take up the mantle of being the wise and elderly mentor (like Obi-Wan). But that aside, it’s been 30 years since the fall of Westmarch. It will be intriguing to learn more about his past whereabouts and back-stories in Diablo 4.
Previously, Lorath narrated journal entries alongside Tyrael, Abd al-Hazir, and Deckard Cain. However, he guides our character to fight against Lilith and solely voices the narration in D4.
Lorath’s History
Being a human and a member of the Horadrim, he played a pivotal role in finding Nephalem. For those that don’t know, Nephalem was the destroyer of Diablo, the main antagonist of Diablo 3. Lorath, first appeared in Diablo 3: Reaper of Souls expansion as a background character. When Malthael steals the Black Soulstone and killed Lorath’s crew, he was ordered by Tyrael to find Nephalem.
During his time as Horadrim, he served faithfully and was fluent in martial weapons. Lorath was a capable fighter and had some knowledge of magic. Though due to his experiences with Reapers over decades, Lorath fell into depression becoming a Mountain hermit. He believed that all humans are weak and no evil can be eradicated.
While Lorath Nahr was voiced by Yuri Lowenthal in Diablo 3, the voice actor won’t be continuing the role in the newest addition. So, who is the voice actor of Lorath Nahr in Diablo 4? Scroll till the end to find out.
