There are two ways to get Wheat Starts in ACNH:
- Purchase them from Leif.
- Head to a Mystery island via Kapp’n boat tour and hope that it has Wheat growing. Kapp’n will be present near your island’s pier.
How to Get Wheat from Leif
- Leif will sell you Wheat Starts for 280 bells each. Just like Pumpkin Starts, you can use them to grow the crop on your island.
- Where to find Leif, you ask? He will appear in front of the Residential Services building with his cart/stall. This is random so you need to log in daily and check if he’s shown up.
- Approach him and see if he’s selling Wheat that day. If yes, buy it with Bells. If he doesn’t have it, check again after a few days because he will most likely have new items for sale.
Harv’s Island
- You can also get Wheat Starts from Leif directly when you head to Harv’s island.
- Note that Leif won’t be available on Harv’s island right from the beginning. First, you will have to visit Harv’s island (after getting your own island a 3-star rating) and ensure that you get the necessary donations in order to get the shops set up in the Plaza.
- Once you arrive at the island, interact with Harv and Harriet and set the ball rolling for bringing in the vendors to the plaza.
- If you don’t have access to Harv’s island yet, all you need to do is get 3 villagers to reside on your island and then you will get an invitation to join Harv.
- You can visit him by taking a free flight to the island location.

Get Wheat via Kapp’n Boat Tour
- If you don’t want to wait for Leif, you can find Wheat while you are on your Kapp’n island tour. Kapp’n is a fun turtle who helps you travel by boat.
- Spend 1000 Nook Miles and he will transport you to a random island that may have Wheat. This is again random, so you may have to spend a lot of Miles to end up on an island that has Wheat growing on it.
The better option is to wait for Leif to show up at your Plaza and purchase the Wheat Starts from him.
How to Grow Wheat Crops in Animal Crossing New Horizons?
- Select an area where you want to grow Wheat. If you have a designated farm area, even better!
- Dig a hole in a specific spot.
- Open your inventory and select Wheat Starts.
- Plant 1 or more as per your choice.
- Water the Wheat starts daily until you see them growing.
- It will take 4 days for Wheat to grow completely.
- Harvest the Wheat when it’s ready and check for more Wheat at that spot after two days.
- You can sell wheat for 350 Bells each.
