Mage Armour is a level 1 spell in Baldur’s Gate 3 that belongs to the School of Abjuration. This spell can be learned by a Sorcerer and Wizard (Class level 1). Additionally, it can also be learned by Arcane Trickster Rogue and Eldritch Knight Fighter (Class level 3).

In addition to this, players can also acquire the Scroll of Mage Armor. Any of the characters can use this item to cast the Mage Armor spell. However, it is important to note that after you have obtained this scroll, you will be able to use it only once. Similarly, if you want to use the spell again, you will have to acquire another scroll.

While using the Mage Armor spell on other characters, you will have to ensure that they are not equipped with any kind of armor. As a result, the spell won’t work even if the character has equipped a helmet or gloves. However, the spell will do its job of surrounding the unarmoured character in a protective magical force.

Additionally, when you cast the spell, it increases its Armour Class to 13 + its Dexterity Modifier. Due to this, the character you are trying to protect has nothing to worry about when it comes to protection. Also, keep in mind that the Mage Armor spell will be removed as soon as you equip any piece of armor on this character. Apart from party members, you can also choose to use this spell to protect the creatures you have befriended from dangerous foes.

The players belonging to Warlocks, who have chosen Eldritch Invocation at Level 2+ can obtain a different version of this spell. This is called Armor of Shadows, however, it doesn’t expand spell slots and the Warlock can use it only on himself.
