Before every update, the developer comes online and chats with players through in-game messages. On June 7, 2025, before the Bizzier Bees and Friendship update, the devs showed off the Sun God event that gives a secret mutation to crops. Here’s everything that is currently known about it.

What is the Sun God event in Grow a Garden?
The Sun God event isn’t a naturally occurring one—it can only be triggered by the developers via admin commands, so make sure you’re always online before an update. Click on the Notify Me button on the game’s store page to be alerted of the next event and be online at least an hour before it. This is when the devs will activate various rare weather types like Black Hole, Disco, Thunder, DJ Jhai, and the Sun God event, which give you unique rewards.
When the Sun God event begins, a huge Monkey with a shiny crown appears next to the map, and the overall environment becomes bright yellow. The devs did keep the mutation associated with it a secret, but it has been revealed that it gives your fruits a Dawnbound mutation, which provides a x150 value multiplier when you sell it. Visually, the item will turn white, and it appears that holding out the Sunflower while the Sun God event is happening will give it a chance to get the Dawnbound mutation in Grow a Garden.
There seems to be another element to this. Keeping the ‘Friendship’ theme in mind, it seems that 4 players need to hold out the Sunflower. That’s because, for many solo players, holding the Sunflower didn’t actually give them the Dawnbound mutation. So, make sure to find 3 more players with Sunflower and test this aspect during the next big update of the game.
With that done, make sure to check out how to do the Sprinkler method to get big fruits that sell for a much higher price than usual.
