  • Open the Steam application on your PC.
  • Log into your account and go over to the home screen of the app.
  • Now, you will have to go to the Settings menu.
  • Here you will have to look for the Account option.
  • Click on this and make sure you activate Steam Guard security.
  • Now, go back to the settings menu again.
  • Scroll down and you will be able to see a Family tab.
  • On the right, you will be able to see an “Authorize Library Sharing on this Computer” check box.
  • Click on this to activate Family Library Sharing.
  • Below this, you will be able to see a list of eligible accounts.
  • You can even check these options individually to show which accounts you want to share your Steam Library with.

If you want to request access to someone else’s library you will have to follow these steps:

  • Open the Steam application on your PC.
  • Log into your account and go to the home screen of the app and go to the Settings menu.
  • Look for the Account option.
  • Click on it and make sure you activate Steam Guard security.
  • Now, go to the game library and go to a particular game.
  • You will be able to see whether the same game is used by other accounts.
  • Click on Play and you will get a pop-up tab.
  • In this pop-up select the Request Access button.
  • This sends the account owner an email about the same.
  • Once they accept and add you as a family member you will get access.
