If you are new to the Assassin’s Creed games or simply looking for stealth tips in AC Mirage, this guide has some of the best tricks that you can follow to get those sneaky assassinations. This game goes back to its roots where you, as Basim, make your way through Baghdad and other areas, without being detected. Mirage puts more focus on stealth (compared to, say, Valhalla) and you must navigate like a shadow, true to your role. But for that, you need to understand how to use the tools and skills you’ve got to distract, sneak attack, or catch guards off-guard while you are hiding or among civilians. Here’s how to master stealth gameplay in Assassin’s Creed Mirage.
AC Mirage Stealth Tips For Beginners
Here are all the things to keep in mind while trying to be the perfect assassin in Assassin’s Creed Mirage.
Use Assassin’s Stealth Tools
Basim has 6 tools that you need to know to use like the back of your hand, because they will be useful in specific situations. Here’s when to use these particular Assassin’s tools.
Throwing Knife
Use this light knife to eliminate enemies at short or medium distances. Hold LT to aim a Throwing Knife and press RT to throw it. Note that hitting enemies in unarmored spots will be more effective.
Noise Maker
This is an explosive that will distract enemies and make them focus on that source of sound. It will help when you are trying to infiltrate and access areas you are not supposed to get caught lurking in.
Blowdart
The blowdart is a projectile tool that can put its target to sleep. This can be used while you are on high ground and want to take down guards who are busy conversing in pairs.
Torch
Being an assassin, you will need to enter various areas that are pretty dark. You don’t want to be the one with reduced visibility and to be able to see better, use the Torch.
Trap
As the name suggests, it’s a trap that you can set up near enemies. Once they walk towards it, it will burst and reveal green gas that will knock them down. After that happens, you can go right in for the kill.
Smoke bomb
When you throw the smoke bomb, it will blast, revealing a cloud of red smoke in the proximity. While the enemies are trying to get a grasp of what just happened, walk right into the cloud and get your assassinations done immediately.
AC Mirage Stealth tip: The Smoke bomb is best used when you want to take down multiple guards standing in a particular area or if you find yourself surrounded and want to get out of a dire situation.
AC Mirage Stealth tip: To quickly use these assassin’s tools, press the LT button along with the X, A, and Y buttons on your Xbox controller (and the respective buttons for PS).
Upgrade your Assassin’s Tools for Better Results
As you progress further, you will get the opportunity to upgrade your tools. For example, if you want to upgrade the Smoke bomb, you can get extra capacity, extended range and increase the duration of the smoke as well.
How to Upgrade Tools
Visit one of the Banu Musa brothers at a Hidden Ones’ bureau to upgrade the tools. You can also reset and unlock tools from there.
Note that upgrading tools will require upgrade materials like Steel ingots, Leather and Components. To get more upgrade materials in AC Mirage, players need to complete Contract missions or simply explore the world the game has to offer.
You can find the Contracts board in the Hidden Ones’ Bureaus which will help you earn more Skill points fast.
How to Unlock Assassin’s Tools Fast
In order to unlock all tools in AC Mirage early, you need to focus on eliminating the first Main Target. After that, you can unlock the 3 extra Tool capacity skills in the Skills tree.
Unlock the Best Skills for Stealth Gameplay in AC Mirage (Skill Tree)
As you play the game and complete main quests, contracts, and other objectives, you will rank up. Now, you need new skills to be a better Assassin.
Here are the best skills for Stealth gameplay in AC Mirage.
- Extra Tool Capacity – Unlock a new slot for a tool by visiting the Banu Musa at a Hidden Ones’ Bureau. But once you get it, this skill cannot be reset. COST: 2 Skill points
- Chain Assassination – After performing an assassination, you will also be able to assassinate a nearby enemy or throw a knife at an enemy that’s a bit far. COST: 3 Skill Points
- Pathfinder: Enkidu’s View reveals Keys and highlights opportunities like Chests with a glow and with this, your companion Eagle can easily discover Secret Entrances and Faction ingredients as well. COST: 1 Skill Point
How to Respec Skills in AC Mirage
Under the Skill tab in the Menu, you will see where you have allotted your skill points. To reset your skills in case you change your mind about your playstyle, press and hold the button prompt next to Reset all skills at the bottom right section of the screen (X for Xbox). Again, the Extra Tool Capacity skills will not be reset.
Use Enkidu the Eagle before Infiltrating Areas
It’s crucial to know what you are getting into beforehand, by using your Eagle view, because you can plan out the steps to take out enemies scattered around the area. Do you blowdart the two people standing on the side, use a throwing knife to make a heavy box fall down on enemies, or use a trap to disorient guards? Strategize with the help of your trusty eagle.
Under Predator Skills, you can unlock Eagle Sense (COST: 3 Skill Points) which will reveal the Patrol path of marked enemies. This will help you in the Hard difficulty.
Stealth Tip: If there’s an enemy marksman, they will shoot at your Eagle. Once you eliminate that guard, you are free to scout the location with Enkidu.
Hide the Bodies of Guards you Assassinate
Having the dead bodies of the guards you have taken down is not a good look. There are plenty of areas to hide these bodies, in gazebos, haystacks, and more, so go ahead and do that as you are clearing enemies.
Use the Assassin’s Focus at the Right Time
The Assassin’s Focus helps you kill and eliminate targets back to back while being undetected by your enemies. Basically what happens is that time will slow down, after which you can target enemies standing in a close group. Once you launch the attack, you will barge into the group and get rid of up to 5 enemies. While this can be used to quickly make your way through an area, you can also use it to save yourself in case you are about to be surrounded.
AC Mirage Stealth Tip: Use this Focus ability carefully. That’s because once the animation is done, and you are still surrounded by more guards or other enemies, the plan to stay undetected will clearly fail. The best locations to use it would be in corners or behind walls where you can still hide after the attack.
How to Use the Assassin’s Focus
- You will need to fill up the Assassin’s Focus bar to use the ability (the bar is located at the bottom left). To do so, perform more and more stealth kills.
- Each chunk of the Focus bar will let you assassinate one enemy with the Assassin’s Focus.
- As soon as your focus power is fully charged and you are safely hidden behind the cover, activate the Assassin’s Focus by pressing the right analog stick.
- Target your enemies (RB) and Launch the attack by pressing A (for Xbox players).
AC Mirage Stealth Tip: You can use the Assassin’s Focus ability even if you are mid-jump!
Avoid Increasing Notoriety
When you do illegal activities like pickpocketing while in full view of others, the guards will take notice of that and it will affect your Notoriety gauge. You can see it at the bottom right section of the screen where the levels are indicated by an exclamation mark, bow and arrows, and swords.
- Notoriety Level 1 – Civilians will start recognizing you and so, guards will take notice of you much faster.
- Notoriety Level 2 – As soon as you get to this level of Notoriety, there will be more marksmen on roofs, looking for your whereabouts.
- Notoriety Level 3 – This is the highest level of Notoriety, which means an Elite Guard of Baghdad will be sent to capture and kill you.
How to Decrease and Remove Notoriety
The goal, as an assassin, in AC Mirage is to use stealth wherever possible and get objectives done without being known.
- Remove the Wanted Posters you see plastered on the walls of Baghdad without being detected by guards.
- Bribe Munadi with a Power Token to remove Notoriety.
- Defeat the Interceptor who is sent after you.
AC Mirage Stealth tips to Hide in Plain Sight (Social Stealth)
Since covers won’t be available everywhere in Baghdad, you will need to master stealth by hiding in plain sight.
- Sit on the bench to blend in with the crowd of citizens.
- Whistle to lure in enemies (press right D-pad to whistle) and bring them closer to your location. If you find a lone guard, call him towards you and get your stealth kill.
- Use the iconic haystacks, gazebos, cupboards to hide and then appear outside to stealth attack a guard.
- Bribe certain civilians by spending Tokens and they will distract the guards while you sneak in and assassinate them.
- As soon as you see at least 3 civilians together, walk with them to blend in. This can come in handy if you are trying to infiltrate a particular location or if you are trying to escape from the area undetected.
- Sometimes, you can assassinate enemies out in the open – what might seem like a friendly hug, can actually be Basim using his hidden blade on the target.
