Bought the third expansion for this game but wondering how to start and access Dawn of Ragnarok in AC Valhalla? Honestly, it can be a bit confusing because there are some specific requirements you need to fulfill. Follow these steps to get started.
How to Start Dawn of Ragnarok DLC Content in AC Valhalla
In order to wield otherwordly powers of a God, you need to complete a few steps beforehand.
- In your main save of Assassin’s Creed Valhalla, level up Raventhorpe to level 3.
- Complete the “A Wise Friend” quest. This will let you complete the Seer’s Hut building.
- Install the Dawn Of Ragnarok DLC.
- Search for the Restless Dreams quest in Raventhorpe (Quest log) and start it.
- You will have to talk to Valka during this quest because she will send you to the next step. Once you see the objective “Place the mistletoe around the ritual circle”, you are on track to complete the Restless Dreams quest in the Dawn of Ragnarok DLC in AC Valhalla.
Important Note:
To play the DLC content from Svartalfheim, the suggested power level is 340. But if you are at a lower level, there are multiple ways to go about it:
- You can increase your power level in the base game naturally and THEN access this DLC.
- You can boost your character (but it will affect your base game experience that the devs intend you to have).
- Third option is that you can play Dawn Of Ragnarok like a stand-alone DLC where anything you do will not be carried over or affected in your main game save. (This works with restrictions).
Boosting your Character for Dawn of Ragnarok – What do you Get in the Boost?
If you try to access it while being underpowered, you will see a warning. “You are currently below the recommended Power Level and will face challenges that could be extremely difficult if using your existing progression. A boost can be used to enhance your character and play the Expansion.”
Use the bottom prompt for Learn More and you should see another new message:
- You can choose to play Dawn Of Ragnarok with your current power level or BOOST your character.
- This boost will increase your Power Level and Stats to 340.
- You will get a loan of a Mythical quality Gear set.
- You will get a loan of Level 2 Abilities set.
- All XP and Skill points that you earn and everything you loot/upgrade while playing Dawn Of Ragnarok will be kept when returning to England.
- Remember: All that is loaned to you by the Boost is only available while playing Dawn Of Ragnarok.
There’s another catch – using the Boost while being at a low power level can affect your gaming experience. When you go back to England, you may have acquired end-game Gear and increased Power Level by quite a lot – more than the intended progression would have.
- If you are sure, choose YES for the boost to play Dawn Of Ragnarok.
- If you don’t want this DLC content to affect your base game’s progression, choose NO BOOST.
How to Access Dawn Of Ragnarok Later?
- On the main menu of the game, click on New Game and confirm the creation of one.
- You will see two options – Valhalla and Dawn Of Ragnarok.
- In Valhalla, you can play the main story, the intended way to experience it.
- Dawn Of Ragnarok will let you play the expansion story only (with limitations). The limitations are mentioned on the next screen – you will be restricted to playing in that world, miss critical story points, have predefined weapons/gear and get minimal tutorials for game mechanics.
