How Gems Work in Survive a Million Monkeys
Gems are the currency you keep after a run ends. That’s important because the other currency, Cash, is spent during a match on things such as weapon upgrades, health, grenades, and barricades. Gems are used back in the lobby for permanent progression, including weapon tiers and class-related upgrades.
Don’t confuse a lobby weapon unlock with an in-run upgrade. Unlocking a tier with Gems makes it available, but you still need to spend Cash during the actual run to upgrade your weapon.
