How to Throw Items & Objects in Spelunky 2

Updated Date :

Do you know how to pick up and throw bombs in Spelunky 2? If your answer is ‘NO’ then don’t worry this guide will explain the same in the simplest way possible. If you want to survive the game and stay alive for a long period of time, you must know how to pick up and throw items in Spelunky 2. Without any further ado, let’s go through the guide:

How to Pick Up & Throw Items in Spelunky 2

Similar to the previous game, you will need to collect objects before you hurl it in Spelunky 2. If you don’t know how to pick up objects in Spelunky 2, you should keep in mind that you can grab objects by crouching down next to an item by pressing down on the D-pad or Left Analogue Stick, and then pressing the Square Button.

If you do so, your character will grab the desired object and they will hang onto it until you decide where to hurl it.

Once you have decided to throw items in Spelunky 2, what all you have to do is to press the Square Button. Doing this will launch it directly forward, or at an arc up or down if you are holding up or down on the D-Pad and Analogue Stick respectively.

Lighter objects in the game tend to fly farther while heavier items like will hit harder upon impact. While throwing any item in Spelunky 2, make sure you don’t fall into a trap.

Whenever you think an enemy is blocking your path and it is mandatory to disarm an Arrow Trap, you should throw an item to make your way. By doing so, you would not lose any health and will be able to easily defeat enemies with minimal hassle.

Likewise, if you are making an effort to get a pet or ally to safety, you can grab them and throw them to Solid ground in order to prevent them from enemies’ attack or trap. However, if you are in cramped space then we would not recommend throwing objects.

There are various objects in Spelunky 2 that have the potential to ricochet off walls, bouncing right back at you and dealing unneeded damage. Make sure to read each and every situation appropriately to get the most use out of the mechanics.

That’s all you need to know to pick and throw items in Spelunky 2. For more information on Spelunky 2, be sure to check out our other guides.
